A successful 2023 PAINSTORM annual meeting
The PAINSTORM Consortium met in London between June 7-9, 2023 for its annual meeting.
The first day was dedicated to a workshop on causal modelling, related to Research Theme 3 and Research Theme 7. Participants learnt about directed acyclic graphs, hierarchical modelling and network analysis, and opportunities for data analysis with longitudinal data.
On 8 and 9 June, the whole consortium gathered at the Wellcome Collection to take stock of progress in the last 12 months and discuss future plans. Academic and industry partners, Patient Partners, and the Advisory Board were all present at the meeting. Highlights included:
- The start of recruitment in every cohort (Work Package 1)
- Initial analysis of qualitative studies of neuropathic pain and its impact (Work Package 2)
- Finalising a protocol for ecological momentary assessment (Work Package 3)
- Ongoing recruitment for the imaging and nerve recording studies (Work Package 4)
- Preliminary results from the genetic data available from the DOLORisk project and UK Biobank (Work Package 5)
- The set-up of a biobank for PAINSTORM (Work Package 6)
- Future plans for data integration and data modelling (Work Package 7)
- A successful event hosted at the Aberdeen Art Gallery as part of British Science Week (Patient & Public Engagement)
